Roller Drome

I have shot roller skating a few times in my brief time as a photojournalist. The smell of a roller rink is one of the most memorable to me. Takes me right back to Skate Plaza in North Idaho. What is it about them that makes everyone smell the same? I was in Nampa doing some work for a special publication of a paper I shoot for and this was one of my stops. Josh Lenty owns this place with his father. He grew up as a speed skater and now owns his own rink. I don’t think I want one but sounds like a dream come true for him. The place was built in 1948 and still kicking.

I remember those days at Skate Plaza when you were little. Brings back memories of when I skated in New York growing up.
